What Is A
Cool Roof?
Traditional roof materials stay
"hot", absorbing 70% or more of the solar energy striking them. Cool
roofs absorb less than 35% of this solar energy, staying 50-60 degrees cooler
during peak summer conditions than traditional dark roof materials.

temperature increases. The higher the temperature the more quickly smog is
formed by the chemical reaction between nitrogen oxides (NOx) and volatile

that higher urban temperatures due to the heat island effect are responsible
for a surprising amount of smog formation.
